The Good Tool for Epidemic Prevention and Disinfection: What Do You Know About Moisture Wipes?

Speaking of moisture wipes, everyone is not unfamiliar, whose characteristics of cleaning and decontaminization, convenient and easy to carry have brought a lot of convenience for people's life. Especially under the influence of the epidemic now, carrying a pack of disinfection wipes when going out has been the norm for many people, but do you really understand the moisture wipes?

Moisture wipes, or wipes, were born in the West. People began to realize the importance of personal hygiene, began to bring a large number of disinfectant moisture wipes, which have been popular in the public places. With the further improvement of people's living standard, the use of moisture wipes continues to expand, and the products are constantly subdivided. Today's moisture wipes are not only used for daily cleaning and disinfection, but also for feminine hygiene and baby products. Moisture wipes are also becoming one of the fastest growing segments of the hygiene market, developing from a non-essential to a necessity.

The structure of moisture wipe is actually very simple, mainly composed of water, spunky non-woven fabric, humectant, antibacterial agent and non-ionic surfactant. Among them, the water is generally refined water or RO pure water, so as not to react with the liquid medicine. The water content of wet paper towels is generally above 80%, which should not be too wet or too dry. Humectants will ensure that the moisture does not evaporate, antimicrobials act as antibacterial and preservative agents, and surfactants remove dirt and oil. At present, in the market moisture wipes can be divided into ordinary moisture wipes, sanitary moisture wipes and disinfection moisture wipes.

1. Ordinary moisture wipes

Ordinary moisture wipes are products that use non-woven cloth, fabric and dust-free paper as carriers, purified water as production water, with appropriate preservatives added to clean hands, skin mucous membranes or surfaces. Ordinary moisture wipes themselves have been disinfected, but cannot disinfect other items. They contain certain skin care ingredients, which play the role of moisturizing the skin, but cannot play the role of sterilization. At present, ordinary moisture wipes are still produced and operated according to the third type of disinfection products. Ordinary moisture wipes need to meet the microbial indicators that meet the requirements in the standards, but there are no requirements on the microbial killing indicators. They are mainly used for cleaning and do not have the effect of anti-bacteriostasis and disinfection.

2. Sanitary moisture wipes

On the basis of ordinary moisture wipes, sanitary moisture wipes are added with anti-bacterial ingredients, and the killing rate of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus must be ≥90%. Some moisture wipes will also be labeled for fungal activity, which requires a Candida albicans kill rate of at least 90%. Sanitary moisture wipes have clear requirements for microbial indicators and microbial killing indicators, but there are still differences between the disinfection raw materials and disinfection moisture wipes added according to the different purposes of their use.

3. Disinfection moisture wipes

Ordinary moisture wipes and sanitary moisture wipes belong to disposable sanitary products, while disinfection moisture wipes belong to carrier disinfectants. They have a stronger bactericidal rate, usually ≥99.999%, and a wider sterilization spectrum. They are mostly used for disinfection of surfaces and medical instruments in medical institutions. Compared with sanitary moisture wipes, disinfection moisture wipes have stricter microbiological and bactericidal indicatores. Microbial indicators require that the total number of bacterial colonies, coliform colonies, pathogenic purulent bacteria, fungal colonies shall not be detected. The bactericidal indicators require that the killing rate of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus should be greater than or equal to 99.999%. If the product is marked as having effect on fungi, the killing rate of Candida albicans should also be greater than or equal to 99.999%. Disinfectant moisture wipes are more likely to be used for medical purposes and should be cleaned and disinfected without obvious contamination.
